The H&L Igloo System

Many dairy operations are confronted with problems of micro-climate in the barn and what may be called “stable-tiredness” in their calves. This is caused by an increased bacteria load, mainly when calves are born year-round. Therefore, many calf rearers around the world have relied on individual hutches. However, many farmers take their distance with respect to these hutches because of the high cost, the considerable work load for spreading, cleaning, and moving them individually, and because they consider bucket feeding physiologically unsound and too work-intensive.

For Holm & Laue, this was reason enough to develop a husbandry design that allows keeping calf lots in igloos. This has resulted in the H&L Igloo System. The development of the H&L Igloo System has given us the opportunity to offer you a full calf husbandry set-up as a do-it-yourself installation kit. It includes the group and single-calf igloos, and the full roof for the feeding and exercise area to go along with them. Supplied equipments include hot-dip galvanised gates and bulk feed troughs and concentrate dispensers made of stainless steel.
